Mikis Theodorakis: Honorary Member of Athens AcademyMikis Theodorakis was rushed this morning to the Medical Center of Athens, Greece, where he was hospitalized with a lower respiratory tract infection.

Theodorakis had a high fever (39.8) and was quickly admitted so that the doctors could monitor his condition. According to his treating physician, Dr. Rapakoulias, the situation is under control. 

He said the patient is able to communicate and the medical staff has managed to control his fever at 37.2 degrees Celsius.

His hospitalization was deemed necessary in order for the doctors to be able to subject him to all the essential tests. Theodorakis had been hospitalized last year at the Medical Center of Athens with a respiratory infection.

Theodorakis's health has again improved and he was allowed to leave the hospital on 30 december.
